The Classical Academy offers flexible academic programs that provide high-quality learning options for families. Students are supported in reaching academic excellence within an environment that encourages meaningful, engaging learning. All of our programs follow an independent study model, where parents serve as the primary educators, supported by highly qualified, credentialed teachers.
Student work is assigned through our online learning management system, Schoology, and reviewed every six weeks at parent-teacher conferences. Families can choose from a variety of learning program options to best fit their needs.
Each academic year is organized into “units,” which are six- to seven-week lesson plans written by credentialed teachers. These units are designed around key topics, standards, and goals in the core subjects of language arts, literature, math, science, and history. The Classical Academy develops these units specifically to support effective home instruction.
Units are posted to Schoology one week prior to the start of instruction, giving parents time to review and prepare. The curriculum is aligned with California Content Standards, and lessons are flexible to allow for parent and teacher preference. Families are provided with detailed lesson plans, answer keys, and all necessary books and resources in order to provide instruction at home.
